Having received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California in 1985 and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1988, the Los Angeles–based investor Jon Brooks is the founder of his namesake firm JMB Capital, which he established in the West Coast city in 2002.

Shanna Brooks has an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois. As a philanthropist, she currently serves on the board of Present Now, an L.A.-based nonprofit organization that supports children who are living in transitional domestic violence shelters. She has previously served on the board for the Joyful Heart Foundation, the nonprofit founded by actor Mariska Hargitay that is dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. 

Both Jon and Shanna have been actively involved for many years with Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, with Jon having been a trustee since 2007. 

Not much is known about the contemporary art that the Brookses own but it is known to include work by leading contemporary artists. On the philanthropic front, Brooks is also now a trustee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
