Claire Selvin

Claire Selvin is associate editor at ARTnews, where she previously held the position of assistant editor. She covers breaking news, art market developments, art-related court cases, and more for artnews.com. Her writing has also appeared in Atlas Obscura, Hyperallergic, and Boston magazine, and she penned a catalogue essay for the 2019 exhibition “Quiet March to a Warring Song” at the Shaker Museum in Mount Lebanon, New York. She has participated in a ten-week publishing course at the Los Angeles Review of Books, creating a print edition of the magazine with a cohort of fellow interns, and she has worked as an editorial intern at the Brooklyn-based publication Narratively. Claire graduated magna cum laude in 2017 with a degree in art history from Tufts University, where she progressed from news editor to arts and culture editor to off-campus editor to editor-in-chief of the Tufts Observer, the school’s oldest student-run publication, founded in 1895. At the helm of the Observer, she oversaw production of the biweekly, 32-page, full-color magazine, as well as a staff exceeding forty people, including writers, designers, photographers, and copy editors.
